Central Texas Food Bank deliveries cancelled

The Food Bank’s fleet, equipment, facilities, and operations have been adversely impacted by the extremely low temperatures, and hazardous road conditions are hindering our staff and volunteers from getting to our building safely. These conditions are also keeping us from distributing food safely.

Thorndale looking for assistant administrator

The city of Thorndale is looking for an assistant city administrator after a vote at the Feb. 10 City Council meeting. The council also approved the resubdivision of properties on Alamo and Quinn streets.

Thorndale health clinic facing lawsuit from neighbors

Since April of 2018, Courtney Paulsen has operated County Meadows Clinic in Thorndale off US 79 in a business as usual manner. That changed on the last day of December 2020 when a petition for injunctive relief was filed in the 20th District Court in the Milam County Courthouse in Cameron.

Extremely low temperatures brought a slowdown to activity in Milam County earlier this week. County offices and Rockdale City Hall were closed as were some retail outlets while others shortened their hours.

Few races contested for May election

The ballots for city and school boards in the area have been sent with few contested races. The Rockdale ballot will include Scott Starnes running for the open seat on the east side. He will face incumbent Richard Coppedge who is running to keep his council seat.

Doggie saw, so doggie did, too

Russell Jones who lives in London was concerned when he noticed his dog was walking with one of its front paws raised so he took his pet to the vet for a checkup. It cost him the equivalent of $400 but the dog doctor could find nothing wrong with the pooch’s leg.
