Milam County sets COVID-19 record

The infections set an all-time high Tuesday at 171. This is four more than the prior record of 167 set in late December 202o. “Clearly, we have a lot of the COVID-19 virus in Milam County,” County Judge Steve Young said in his daily email.

ConnectedNation still needs Milam surveys

Milam County is well on its way to having enough surveys for ConnectedNation-Texas to begin its tabulation and analysis to access the county’s needs for improved internet service, according to the group.

100 days smarter

Pre-K students at Rockdale Elementary School celebrated their 100th day of school by dressing as 100-year-old grannies and grandpas this past Friday. The pre-K teachers dressed as “The Golden Girls”—from the 1980’s television show, not the drill team.

For those with heart conditions or other medical conditions that may weaken your heart, keeping your heart protected during a pandemic is important. Cholesterol and blood pressure issues, as well as arrythmias or cardiomyopathy, are heart conditions that can make contracting COVID-19 more serious.

Traffic stop nets drug arrest

A Rockdale man was arrested after running a stoplight in downtown Rockdale on Friday. At 10:07 p.m., Rockdale police officers, Dillian Ford and Byron Frank land, observed a vehicle run the red light at the intersection of North Main and West Cameron Avenue.

Candidate filing deadline Friday

There are still more open seats than there are candidates that have filed to run in the area elections on May 1. With the filing deadline on Friday, candidates are still few and far between for the first weekend in May general election as of press deadline.
