TSTC selected for apprenticeship project

Texas State Technical College’s Auto Collision and Management Technology program has been selected for the Automotive Collision Engineering Pilot Program. The program’s purpose is to have students get realworld experience as they learn in classes to go into the collision repair industry.

Missionary to speak at First Assembly of God

First Assembly of God invites the community to hear missionary Rev. Mike James at 11 a.m. Sunday. In 2005 Mike moved to The Netherlands where he served for 12 years. The past three years he served in the Europe Extension office in Springfield, MO training new missionaries.

St. John’s collecting food for Pack Pals

St. John’s United Methodist Church is collecting food to support the Pack Pals organization in Rockdale. Pack Pals packs bags of food for students in Rockdale ISD and other Milam County school districts to help combat hunger in our community.

Milano VFD chili supper set for Feb. 20

Milano Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual chili supper on Saturday, Feb. 20, starting at 4:30 p.m. Dinners include chili, beans and all the fixings including tea and dessert. There will also be an online auction and a gun drawing.

Historical preservation grant applications

Seventh death reported due to COVID-19

There has been another COVID related death in Milam County. This is the seventh death to report in the past seven days. This brings the total deaths in the county to 25 since the pandemic started. On December 28, 2021 there were 11 deaths in the county and now has doubled t in less than 30 days.

City working on water main break

Water Main Break at Alcoa & Middleton City crews are working to repair a water main break at Alcoa & Middleton. Water customers may have low to no water pressure today, which is Jan. 27 until approximately 1 p.m.

Milam County deputy arrests wanted man

Milam County Sheriff’s Office arrested a subject wanted out of Louisiana on a long list of felony charges a little after midnight Monday. Milam County Sheriff’s Deputy Josh Perez stopped the suspect for a minor traffic violation at FM 2095 and U.S. 77.

More deaths attributed to COVID-19

"This sounds like a broken record, but we must report another three deaths in Milam County last week, due to COVID-19. This makes a total of six deaths we reported for the week of January 18, 2021.
