New year so a new program at AgriLife

Every Wednesday in February, a team of Bosque, Leon, and Johnson county extension agents will present the “Health Literacy for Older Adults” program. It will be open to the surrounding region and will be hosted online via the Zoom platform at 10:30 a.m. each Wednesday.

Cow-calf clinic postponed due to virus

The 40th annual Central Texas Cow-Calf Clinic that was scheduled for Jan. 14 in Cameron has been postponed to a later date, according to County Extension Agent Floyd O. Ingram.

State sales tax revenue at $2.86 billion

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said state sales tax revenue totaled $2.86 billion in December, 5 percent less than in December 2019. The majority of December sales tax revenue is based on sales made in November and remitted to the agency in December.

Men nabbed in felony arrests

A 36-year-old Rockdale man was arrested Friday at 8:50 p.m. on a county warrant alleging aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Cabbage roll soup and a tasty crab salad

Mom made chicken noodle soup the other day when the weather got so cold. Highly recommended if you haven’t already thought to make some. It just warms you right up. Last week I made crab salad. We were all craving something a little lighter to eat after all the beef we’d eaten over the holidays.
