Here is the Milam County Jail Log for June 2-8. Jail logs list all persons charged with offenses through the county jail docket. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION

The Central Texas Food Bank returned to the KC Hall parking lot Thursday for the first of two twice-monthly visits in June. The Thursday distribution served 599 individuals in 253 households, according to Pam Warren, spokesperson. Social distancing was observed and workers wore masks.

FFA WINNERS

Taking the top awards from last month’s Future Farmers of America Awards announcement at Rockdale High School were: (L-R) Maddy Moody, outstanding member; Emma Roberts, star chapter farmer; Ryan Luckey, star greenhand. Awards were announced online due to the COVID-19 situation.

ORGANIZATIONS

Pack Pals and Crossroads Bible Church distribute meals Crossroads Bible Church, in collaboration with Pack Pals, will begin distributing meals every Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. while supplies last. Families will receive a week’s worth of meals for each child in the family.

Summer contests set for 4-H’ers and others

We have some exciting opportunities this summer to do at home. Please join us. No 4-H membership required. Unfortunately, we will not be providing day camps this summer, so this is our way to make summer super fun. Invite all your friends to join in the fun.

Health/fitness day Saturday

Parks and recreation agencies everywhere are encouraging families to participate in Family Health & Fitness Day Saturday. Families may participate in virtual programs at home or in their local parks where state and local ordinances allow. This year’s theme is “Parks Build Healthy Communities.

Yard of the month

The home of Rick Powell (R) and Jared Dunn, 437 San Gabriel, has been selected as the June Rockdale Earth Day Yard of the Month. Winning households receive a $25 gift certificate from Bloomers Garden Center in Elgin. Deadline for July Earth Day Yard of the Month nominations is June 20.
