Here is the jail log for June 26-July 1 from the Milam County Sheriff’s Department. Jail logs list all persons charged with offenses through the county jail docket. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.

FIRE CALLS

Fire calls dispatched through the Rockdale Police Department during the past week were listed as follows: • 10:09 a.m. Saturday, grass fire, 1200 block of County Road 314, Milano VFD. • 4:26 p.m. Saturday, grass fire County Road 316 at FM 908, Rockdale VFD. • 5:18 p.m.

Rockdale reports first triple-digit reading Sunday

After flirting with the triple-digit plateau for most of June, the mercury edged over it on the first day of July. The U. S. Weather Service thermometer read an even 100 at KRXT-FM on Sunday. It wasn’t exactly chilly in the month just past. Several highs of 99 were recorded.

The City of Milano had its annual Fourth of July parade and free hot dog meal on Wednesday. Results of parade winners will be in next week’s column. STATE—Congratulations to the 12u Milano Wolfpack and 10u Boom softball teams for making the TTAS state tournaments for their respective divisions.

Guilty in ‘medicated’ sex assault

A jury deliberated less than an hour Thursday before returning a guilty verdict against a 53-year-old Rockdale man accused of sexually assaulting a woman while she was medicated. Ricky Lee Murray will be sentenced next month.
