CAMERON—The 68th Battle of the Bell started off w ith a bang t hanks to Rockdale sophomore Tim Grice. He turned a handoff from Blaydn Barcak into a 70-yard touchdown 12 seconds into the game, leading to Blue-and-Gold fans erupting in cheer.

This year’s inductees to the Rockdale High School Athletic Hall of Honor are two former Division I athletes that also happened to roam the halls of RHS. One made multiple trips to the state track meet before becoming a Horned Frog and pole vaulting at Texas Christian University.

Runners compete at regionals this week

On Monday and Tuesday, 18 runners from Rockdale, Milano and Thorndale will compete at their respective regional meets. From RHS, Jesus Bocanegra will compete on Monday at Huntsville’s Kate Barr-Ross Park for his third consecutive trip to the Class 3A, Region III meet.

Eagles ranked 10th in Class 2A-II

MILANO—The Eagles put on quite the show during the school’s annual homecoming game, taking down district opponent Iola, 41-6. Josh Millar helped get his team off to a hot start w ith a 14-yard touchdown run, marking the 15th time he’s scored this fall.

On Friday afternoon, the Lady Dogs took down Austin Royals Home School in three sets, 25-14, 25-13, 25-19, in a non-district contest.

Late Friday afternoon, the Lady Tiger volleyball team was ready to play their district contest with the McGregor Lady Bulldogs, who had made the 73-mile trip to RHS. Due to a referee shortage that day, both teams ended up having to wake up on a Saturday morning to play.
