Fishing conditions in Central Texas

GOOD. Water lightly stained; 81 degrees; 10.43 feet low. The cold front which pushed in on Sept. 25-26 turned the topwater white bass bite on. Each day this week has seen about 2.25 hours of solid topwater action.

Although their season- opening victory in August was followed by three straight losses during September, the Tigers played as if they had a clean slate on Friday night, when they battled Franklin, the topranked team in Class 3A-II.

Rockdale cross country teams competed in Caldwell this past Satuday, where the Tigers placed second as a team. Jesus Bocanegra led the way, placing fourth overall while Yovanney Delgadillo, Cristo Hernandez and Jose Tenorio placed 10th, 11th and 12th respectively.

All four sub-varsity Tiger football teams fell to Franklin on Thursday. The RHS junior varsity lost in Franklin, 48-0. According to coach Ethan Brinkley, Eduardo Rivera was the team’s offensive standout due to his two receptions. Standouts on defense were Klay Eschberger and Landon Deason.

On Friday night, the Milano Eagles escaped the Houston suburbs victorious with a 30-29 win over the Cypress Christian Warriors, wrapping up their pre-district portion of their schedule undefeated. MHS scored first as senior Josh Millar punched in his 12th touchdown of the season on a fiveyard run.

After a week off, the Blue-and-Gold open district play at Tiger Stadium against Franklin, who is Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine’s top-ranked team in Class 3A-I as of Monday. The Tigers opened the season with 38-29 win in Teague on Aug.
