THORNDALE GOLF

The Thorndale Lady Dog golfers played in the Rosebud-Lott Golf Tournament held last week at the Sammons Golf Course in Temple. Lady Dog Marisol Schaller was first place medalist, carding a 91. Other golfers on the team are Madison Espinoza, Karsyn Bland, Hestin Ellington and Rhynn Bigan.

Granger GOOD. Water lightly stained; 60 degrees; 0.12 feet above pool. Black bass are good to 6 pounds on jigs and worms fished near heavy timber. Crappie are good on slip bobber rigs fished in shallow water. White bass are good up river and up Willis Creek.

RGSL opening day

Rockdale Girls Softball League had its opening day ceremony on Saturday. There was a huge and happy crowd that enjoyed concession stand snacks, as they cheered for their favorite team and their coaches.

THORNDALE BASKETBALL

Congratulat ions to Thorndale Bulldogs hoopsters Case McDaniel and Braden Pickel, who were both selected for the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ Region Four All-Region Team. The Bulldogs finished the season with a 25-7.

SPORTS BRIEFS

The Rockdale Noon Lions Club will hold their 34th annual Scholarship Scramble Golf Tournament this weekend at Rockdale Country Club. Tee time will be 8:30 a.m. Teams should be made up of different handicap class players. Cash awards will be presented to the top three teams.

ROCKDALE GOLF

SALADO—Rockdale High School golfers traveled to Salado last week to play in their Invitational Tournament held at the Mill Creek Country Club. Tiger Mason Lillard placed seventh out of 78 by scoring sevie an 81.

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL POWERLIFTING

Thorndale Lady Bulldog Jordyn Stutts has won back-to-back state championships in powerlifting. She set three new state records on her way to becoming this year's champion. Stutts set the state record in squats with 415 pounds and bench with 275 pounds.

ROCKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Rockdale Lady Tigers softball team suffered two losses last week against number one rival Cameron. At home Big Blue lost 10-1 and in Cameron they lost 8-2.

MILANO HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Milano Eagles baseball team opened district play last week with an 0-2 record as they went against Mumford. The Eagles lost 4-1 on the road and 12-0 at home. UP NEXT— Their next district game was against Iola on the road Tuesday (after The Reporter deadline), before hosting Iola at 6:30 p.m.

THORNDALE HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Thorndale baseball team picked up two wins last week. The Bulldogs beat Rosebud- Lott, 7-3, on the road and they won 12-1 against Granger at home. These were both district games so Thorndale is 2-0 in district play.
