FOOD PANTRY—Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open 10 a.m. until noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.

JAMBOREE

JAMBOREE—The Fourth Annual Country Gospel Jamboree was held recently at the Giddings High School auditorium. The event, hosted by the Cowboy Church of Lee County, drew a crowd of over 240 and featured several regional entertainers who specialize in country-flavored gospel music.

SAYING ‘GOOD-BYE’—Mayor John King (center) did the honors before Monday’s city council session as the city bid farewell to a pair of retiring council members. Willie Phillips (R) was the council’s senior member, serving six terms, and a total of 18 years, as east ward councilman.

‘PLAYING BALL’ WITH THE CHAMBER—The Rockdale Youth Baseball Association has joined the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce. A ribbon-cutting was held recently.
