McDaniel, Paulsen top THS graduates

THORNDALE—Mary Blair McDaniel is the valedictorian and Ashleigh Paulsen the salutatorian of the 52-member graduating class of 2017. Graduation ceremonies will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Main Street Events Center in Taylor. McDaniel is the daughter of Dusty and Rhonda Suckow.

Bounds, Poehl lead MHS

MILANO—Kenna Bounds is the valedictorian and Kalie Poehl salutatorian of the 37-candicate Milano High School graduating class of 2018. Bounds compiled a 4.52 grade point average. (Averages higher than 4.0 are possible due to weighted honors courses.) She is the daughter of Lee and Tami Bounds.

IN CONCERT

IN CONCERT—Adrian Rubio and Arianna Eastridge play a duet of “Despacito”last week during the annual spring concert by the Rockdale High School Big Blue Band. The concert, held in the RHS Auditorium, featured all bands in the RISD program.

Volunteers honored

RISD REPORT From the beginning of our school year to the end, volunteers work tirelessly to coordinate cake auctions, volleyball and football concession stands, inventory library books, teach iTigers classes, fall festivals, spaghetti suppers, track meets and the list can go on and on.

REUNIONS

Modesette reunion set June 3 at Taylor park TAYLOR—The annual Modesette family reunion will be held Sunday, June 3, at Murphy Park pavilion, located at 1600 Veterans Drive off Lake Drive in Taylor. Arrival time will be 10 a.m. and a covered-dish luncheon will be served at noon.

COMMENTS FROM MICAH Leaving a child to die in a hot vehicle; most parents think it will never happen to them. Sadly, of the children who die in hot cars, more than 50 percent of them are “forgotten” in the car by a parent or caregiver.
