Crossroads church sets BBQ fund-raiser Saturday On Saturday, June 9, Crossroads Bible Church will hold a barbecue fund-raiser to support summer events for the church’s young people, including summer camp and Girls in Action (GA) and Royal Ambassadors (RA) activities.

Peace Lutheran will install ‘Pastor Gary’ at 3 p.m. Sunday

Rev. Gary Veit will be installed at Peace Lutheran Church, 303 Meadow Dr. in Rockdale, at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 10. “Pastor Gary,” as he is known, has been serving Peace Lutheran as an interim pastor for the past year—which is why you may and seen him around town.

FOOD PATRY—Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open 10 a.m. until noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.

Alaska: It’s a whale of a place

(There’s a reason there are more pictures than prose on this page. The reason is the pictures, even though they don’t do Alaska justice.) When I was just out of college I sat down to read a book in Rockdale’s library, written by an elderly travel author.

‘THANKS FOR THE HELP’

The City of Rockdale recently presented an appreciation certificate to Dusty Albright. City Manager Chris Whittaker, who presented the award, said Albright assisted with gravel work to help repair a portion of Beverly Drive.
