Capital murder suspect captured

Capital murder suspect, 16-year-old Jonah Flores, of Rockdale surrendered himself on Tuesday afternoon after the Saturday, Nov. 16, murder of Christopher Flores, 22, Rockdale. Rockdale Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired at a residence in the 400 block of E. Fourth St.

Christmas events: tree lighting, markets, more

Rockdale organizations are gearing up for Christmas with several different celebrations, the first of which is today, Thursday, Nov. 21. Ch r i s tma s T r e e Lighting— Rockdale Downtown Association’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting starts this Thursday at 6 p.m.

THANKSGIVING FEAST

Saturday’s 24th annual Community Outreach Dinner went off without a hitch and provided about 500 meals for happy recipients. Many volunteers provided delivery service, and the Rockdale Rotary Club showed up at 7 a.m. to help make sure the day went smoothly.

Master Naturalists classes start in January

Texas Master Naturalist Courses begin on January 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Cameron. “If you are passionate about native Texas plants and animals you are welcome to joins us,” said organizer Linda Burgess.

Easy Thanksgiving desserts

To my fellow diabetics: we’re going to talk about Thanksgiving desserts this week. Participate or not as you wish. I will not be diabetic on Thanksgiving Day. But I definitely will be the following day. I do like a piece of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving but that is the only time of year.
