Luckey family feted at 90th homecoming

Paul Luckey, owner of Rockdale Memorial Company, gave a talk about his family and company at Sunday’s 90th annual Citywide Homecoming at the Patterson Civic Center. The company was started by Paul’s father, Edward Luckey, and has been in business for 78 years.

Saturday’s 23rd annual MARC Ride had 79 entrants with 100 riders and set a new record raising $56,891 with more money promised to come in this week. About $22,000 of the total came from the live auction with auctioneer John Fisher. A grand total over the 23 years comes to $491,176 raised.

Roddam sworn in as mayor during meeting Ward Roddam was sworn in as Rockdale’s mayor at Monday night’s city council meeting by City Secretary Shanna Johnson. Roddam is f inishing former mayor Brett Boren’s term and another election will be held in May of 2025.

Joseph the father of Jesus; the Bible tells us some things about him. An angel of the Lord appeared to him before Jesus’ birth. He took his family to Bethlehem for a census. He f led with his family to Egypt. Later, he settled in Nazareth where he practiced his trade of carpentry.

Connect Church sets book club for June 26 Connect Church will hold a book club at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 26. It will meet in The Upper Room at The Place of Hope on Cameron Avenue. The book is available now, it is entitled All In by Mark Batterson.

There’s a new shop in town at Street Ministries, 225 N. Main St. The shop is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and sells a variety of Christian- themed merchandise. Sandy Creek Cemetery Assn.
