Apolog i e s for my absence. There hasn’t been that much going on in Milano. At least that I am aware of. The school district is closed until July 10. They are taking some much needed time off. Summer school is over, so I am taking some much needed time off as well.

There doesn’t seem to be too much news in Gause this Monday morning. Chances are it will be warm today since it is July. Our sincere sympathy to the family of Freddy Owens. He passed away last Monday.

Milam County Has Been Approved for Public Assistance

Due to the damage caused by the April and May severe thunderstorms, Milam County has been approved for Public Assistance. This assistance is for government, non-profits, and utility providers.

Busy July 4 kicks off sesquicentennial events

Rockdale’s Sesquicentennial Celebration kicks off with a drone show and fireworks on July 4 at Fair Park. There will be food trucks, games and activities for kids and beer concessions by Rockdale Fair Association. At 9:30 a concert featuring The Outsiders will be performed in the pavilion.

NEW ENTRANCE

A new secure entrance to Rockdale Elementary School on the Bowser Street side is shown here in an architectural rendering. Construction is already under way, including this covering for rainyday drop offs.

Tickets available online for sesquicentennial dinner, dance

One of many sesquicentennial events is the dinner and dance party which will be held July 13 at the KC Hall from 6 to 11 p.m. The live musical act is Kenny Orts. Attendees may come dressed in their favorite era attire from 1874 to 2024 or can come as they are. This is not a fancy dress event.
