El Camino Real River Crossing Events Center recently held their ribbon cutting after joining the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce. The event center is located at 1919 CR 429 and offers performance wedding, party entertainment venue and even a stocked pond for fishing.
RIOT Platforms sponsored an Alcoa History panel discussion at the Kay Theater Saturday evening at 6 p.m. and shared lots of interesting information (see editorial on page 5A by Reporter publisher Ken Cooke).
The Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District (POSGCD) will hold its 10th Annual Burleson and Milam Counties Groundwater Summit on July 18 at the Caldwell Civic Center.
Nine Milam County 4-H members attended 4-H district and state camps this summer.
The first camp attended was the District 8 4-H Surge Leadership Camp. This camp was open to all incoming eighth-12th grade youth.
Three of our 4-H County Council officers attended this camp and learned many life skills.
Lucy Hill Patterson will have two coffees during July. Main Street Bookshop is the host this Friday, July 5, and the Rockdale Historical Society will host on July 12 from 9 to 11 a.m.
There will be book signings by local authors on both days.
Last week The Reporter took you through the first week’s sesquicentennial events which begin today on July 4. The second week of events start on Friday, July 12 at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library at 9 a.m. and sponsored by the Rockdale Historical Society.
One of many sesquicentennial events is the dinner and dance party which will be held July 13 at the KC Hall from 6 to 11 p.m. The live musical act is Kenny Orts.
Attendees may come dressed in their favorite era attire from 1874 to 2024 or can come as they are. This is not a fancy dress event.
