At Rockdale Elementary o ur s taff i s d edicated t o educating each and every child who walks through our doors. As most of you know, academics is at the top of our list. We want our students to leave RES as readers, writers, mathematicians and problem solvers, but this is not our lone mission.

The Rockdale Senior Center had a fun Friday with a ‘Rememberingthe 50s’ party with 50s trivia and music and even a hula hoop contest. Treatsincluded root beer floats at Carolyn’s Ice Cream Parlor and Ima Jean Weise’s CocaCola Cupcakes which were popular in the 1950s.

MILAM COUNTY JAIL LOG

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.   • Chad Lee Stanford, 45, Cameron, motion to revoke for DWI third or more, in custody.

Four arrested on felony warrants during past week

Rockdale Police Officers made four felony arrests during the past week including: • Patr ick Vega, 44 , Rockdale, was arrested on Wednesday by Ofc. Lentz on a local warrant for fraudulent use of identifying information.   • Kevin Martin, 35, Rockdale, was arrested on Thursday, by Ofc.

FIRE CALLS

Responded to: • Becky’s Sandwiches for an electrical outlet smoking on Tuesday.   • Report of a grass fire spreading on Bullock off Douthit which turned out to be a property owner burning tires on Wednesday. He was issued a citation for violation of city ordinance.

So, what all have you eaten lately with this cooler weather? We’ve already had chili, spaghetti and hamburger soup, all made by Mom. I’m not big on cold weather but I do enjoy cold weather food. And it shows. Here’s a good crockpot recipe that would be better with thighs, in my opinion.

ORGANIZATIONS

The Thorndale Town & Country Club met at the country home of Paula Johnson with Paula and her sister, Becky Hozak, as hostesses. Seven club members were present. Games of “What’s in Your Purse” were played with the winner receiving a cute jack-o-lantern bucket with several prizes inside.
