Manhunt ends in arrest
A manhunt on Friday night ended with the subject captured early on Saturday morning. The subject, Christian Devaughn Rayford, was caught by MCSO Deputy Dillan Ford early Saturday mor ning when he stepped in front of Ford’s car on CR 302.

At Monday night’s city council meeting the council members heard a recommendation from La Vera Wade to rename East Third Street to Gertharine Green Street in honor of Gertharine Green who, Reporter readers may remember, celebrated her 104th birthday last April with a big parade. And, of course, that measure passed unanimously.
CTE prepares students for careers, college
The mission of Rockdale ISD is to “Empower and challenge all students to achieve personal excellence for college and career success.” Along with the state mission that “Every child, [is] prepared for success in college, a career or the military,” Career and Technical Education (CTE) plays an important role in today’s public education. Students today have the opportunity to gain a depth of knowledge and skill in their field of interest before graduating high school and pursuing post-secondary options. This depth allows students to be highly sought-after employees and students at all levels of higher education. This skill level translates to higher wages.
Marker dedication
The Historic Texas Cemetery marker dedication was held at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening at the old City Cemetery. Joan Ratliff acted as MC for the event.
