RES art/music news

I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching art and music to the children at RES this year. This role is new to me as I have been a K-5 classroom teacher for 19 years, and I am loving it!

RIBBON CUTTING

RIBBON CUTTING—Rockdale Speed Shop and Customs held their ribbon cutting last Thursday. Owners Nick and Heidi Carter restore and flip cars keeping the outward appearance the same but adding modern touches the cars didn’t have originally.

Last chance for Mardi Gras tickets

It's your last chance to get tickets for the Mardi Gras this Saturday. The ninth annual Mardi Gras bash raises funds for the Christine Holcombe Memorial Scholarship Fund to benefit Milam County youth with college scholarships. The “Mardi Gras” bash will be at Simon George Hall, 401 S.

VFD annual fundraiser tickets on sale

The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual fundraiser at the KC Hall on April 23 from 5 p.m. to midnight. A meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. Ticket sales will began on Feb. 14 and are $150 per couple.

RPD makes three felony arrests over past week

Rockdale Police Officers made three felony arrests during the past week: • Landon Hunt Renfro, 43, was arrested by Officer Krejci on Tuesday for possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram), possession of dangerous drug and driving with license invalid.

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. • Carolyn Ann Grosshans, 28, Rockdale, burglary of habitation, released on $8,000 bond.

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • US 77 at Forest Grove on Tuesday for an 18-wheeler that had lost its load. • 515 Bowser along with AMR and Oncor for a structure fire on Friday. • 515 Bowser on Saturday for a rekindle. • 500 block of West Cameron Avenue on Saturday for a two-vehicle accident.
