Salty Cemetery Assoc. meeting March 7th The Salty Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 7. The meeting will be held in the Salty Church Annex. Alcoa Retirees to meet on March 10 at 5 p.m. Rockdale Alcoa Retirees will hold a meeting on Thursday, March 10.

I’m writing this column on Feb. 14, so I’m hoping you had a great Valentine Day. It was fun watching Addy choose which card she wanted to give each classmate. Wayne and I have been married since Nov. 16, 1963, and we are still together. There is a lot of give and take on both sides.

Burn ban lifted Monday by commissioners court

At Monday’s county commissioners court, Judge Steve Young said that the county had received complaints that the commissioners weren’t answering their phones. Each commissioner got up to speak and denied the claims which were pronounced as having no merit.

City council holds workshop with MDD director about abatements

The Rockdale City Council held a workshop with MDD Director Jim Gibson at Monday night’s meeting to try to get the city council, the MDD and other entities under the same umbrella when offering tax abatements to potential new Rockdale businesses.

BUSINESS OF THE MONTH—Milam County Cowboy Church was awarded business of the month by the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce for February. The church was founded in 2007 and has been led by Pastor Greg Spears ever since.
