EARTH DAY ART— Rockdale Ear th Day received 22 posters from junior high students working under the direction of art teacher Lani Young. These posters are currently on display at the Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library.

Fair Assn. scholarship applications available The 2021-2022 Rockdale Fair Association Scholarship application is available to 4-H/FFA seniors. “Please see any Milam County high school counselor or the extension agent for qualifications and requirements to complete the scholarship.

Rockdale VFD fundraiser tickets on sale February 14th

The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual fundraiser at the KC Hall on April 23 from 5 p.m. to midnight. A meal will be served at 5:30 p.m. Ticket sales will begin on Feb. 14 and are $150 per couple.

Two arrested on felony warrants

The Rockdale Police Department made two felony arrests during the past week: • Davana Leroine Sterling, 22, Rockdale, was arrested on Saturday by Officer Krejci on three possession of controlled substance charges.

FIRE CALLS

Rockdale VFD Responded to: • North FM 487 for an oil spill on Tuesday. • South FM 908/US 77 for a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday. • West Cameron/Childress for a two-vehicle major accident on Tuesday. • The 800 block of CR 322A for a grass fire on Friday.

MILAM COUNTY JAIL LOG

Jail log lists all people charged with offenses through the county jail in Cameron. Charges may change during the process. Persons are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. • Timothy Antonio Tena, 35, Buckholts, DWI with blood alcohol level greater than 0.15, released on $1,500 bond.

If this rain keeps up as it has the first of the week, we won’t have to worry about a dry summer. This is a day I don’t believe I’ll be going outside, so maybe I’ll get the Christmas trees taken down and put away. We were sorry to hear of the death of Frank Shafer. He was Elaine Baumann’s brother.

RISD CLOSED THURSDAY

Due to extreme weather conditions, Rockdale ISD will not have school on Thursday, February 3, 2022. A decision regarding school on Friday will be made Thursday afternoon. Thank you, Rockdale ISD

Milam COVID numbers moving in the right direction 2-2-22

We have 12 new cases to report and 26 cases to discharge, leaving 148 confirmed, active cases in Milam County.  One person was hospitalized and one person was discharged.  We have no new deaths to report.
