Farmers’ Market is now every Saturday morning The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is holding a farmers’ market on the grounds of the historic Coffield Stone Tree House at 1203 W. Cameron. The market is held each Saturday from now until the end of October. The hours are 8 a.m. to noon.

Former ‘Idol’ contestant arrested

A Milam County resident who once competed on the reality show, “American Idol,” was arrested last week in Rockdale on a charge of burglary of a habitation. Cecil Ray Baker, 20, of Rockdale was arrested at 8:08 a.m. on Friday. He was booked into Milam County Jail on Saturday at 3:27 p.m.

Rockdale woman included in federal indictments

Twenty central Texas residents, including a Rockdale woman, face federal drug trafficking and firearms charges stemming from five separate, but related, federal grand jury indictments unsealed last week in Waco, announced U.S. Attorney Ashley C. Hoff and others. Indictment No.1 is U.S. v.

Grind control

The city of Rockdale received this asphalt zipper on April 8 which was purchased earlier this year. The zipper made its first appearance on a city street April 13 when it was put to work grinding up the asphalt and part of the base of Ramsey Street.

There will be a benefit all day Saturday at the Robertson County Fairgrounds for John Alexander. He is battling Stage 4 cancer. They will be selling barbecue, fried fish and barbecue plates. They will also have a silent auction and a live auction at 2 p.m. There will be team roping.

Time to fire up the grill for springtime

At my house we love to grill no matter what the weather, but it’s always especially good in the springtime. I’ve even know Dad to grill in the rain. Here’s an easy one for you. I’d use thighs because I like them better. And the hot sauce is totally optional. Leave it out if you don’t like it spicy.
