Get the point? The Good Guys certainly came out on top in Rockdale’s night-time Christmas Parade on Saturday. Santa (Tom Loth) triumphantly arrived as the final entry while the Grinch (Dustin Thomas) got thrown in jail on the Milam County CrimeStoppers float.
Rockdale police have filed a charge of capital murder against a 30-year-old local resident in connection with the death of a 20-month-old girl Monday.
Lt. Stephen Goodrich said Patricia Ann Rader was pronounced dead at a San Gabriel Street residence by Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Andy Isaacs.
That’s the preliminary count on the 13th Annual Buddy Oney Toy Run, sponsored by Bad to the Bone Riders, which departed from The Ranch Saturday morning to benefit Milam County Child Protective Services, Christmas Roundup, Thorndale Cares and the Milam County Sheriff’s Department’s Brown Santa.
Monday morning at Little River Hospital, employees were caring for patients, taking calls and walk-ins and calling patients to cancel scheduled appointments. Nurses, technicians and staff also were waiting for the ax to fall on their jobs and all worried about the community they serve.

Friday is the deadline to nominate persons to be served by Rockdale’s Christmas Roundup, which provides holiday cheer for the less fortunate.

Rockdale police are contemplating filing capital murder charges after the death of a one-year old girl Monday.

ACCIDENTS—Police investigated three traffic accidents during the past week.
Fire calls during the past week dispatched from the Milam County Sheriff’s Department included the following:
• 1:02 p.m. Nov. 27, report of heavy smoke, County Road 446, Rockdale VFD dispatched to find a controlled burn which had not previously been called in.
• 3:23 p.m. Nov.
SHERIFF’S REPORT
Two additional persons were charged during the week with burglaries over a period of time in a deceased person’s home in Milam County.
Clarissa Renee Habib, 32, and Melinda Janette King, a Bell County resident, were each charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.
