Stadium open house Sept. 28

An open house at the new Tiger Field has been set for Sept. 28, the Friday of Big Blue’s open date. The stadium construction, now well into the home stretch, was a topic of conversation Monday for Rock-dale ISD trustees in their September board meeting in the Central Administration Building.

Grand jury returns 33 indictments

CAMERON—Thirty-three indictments were returned Thursday by a Milam County Grand Jury, according to Prosecutor Bill Torrey. He said no “no-bills” were handed down.

—Two Mondays ago, Rockdale City Manager Chris Whittaker told a packed city council chambers there had been 1,226 water line breaks, 6 in water mains (primary carriers) since January, 2015. If this was No. 1,227 (and No. 47) it didn’t take long to happen.

Music festival, Kay run ahead Oct. 6th

The first annual Rock-dale Fall Music Festival set in downtown Oct. 6, kicks off with the annual Kay Theatre Run, which has a Halloween theme this year.

Four treated after area accidents

Four persons were treated after Rockdale-area traffic accidents over the past week, according to the Department of Public Safety. Milano volunteer firefighters, an AMR ambulance crew and the Milam County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle collision at US 79 and CR 329 at 10:09 p.m.

Substitute training set for teaching in RISD A mandatory training for all new RISD substitute teachers will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday in the Rockdale ISD Conference Room, 529 West Davilla.

Police hope final arrests made for counterfeit bills

POLICE REPORT Rockdale Police are hoping a pair of arrests made last week have put an end to a rash of counterfeit bill sightings around town. Zachary Alan Christensen, 17, and a 14-year-old male were arrested last Wednesday and Thursday and charged with forgery by passing.

Cameron police seek info on shooting

SHERIFF’S REPORT Area law enforcement agencies are asking for the public’s assistance after a Calvert man was shot on Thursday in Cameron. Cameron police officers responded to the 1600 block of North Crockett Avenue around 2:30 p.m.
