The annual South Milam County United Way Radiothon netted $1,180 Thursday morning at Lee’s Landing. UW volunteers worked the phones as the event was carried live over KRXTFM. Those participating included (L-R) Gaye Bland, Charlie McGregor and Elissa Benford-Roberts.

Sales tax: City, MDD gain for month

The City 0f Rockdale and the Rock-dale Municipal Development District (MDD) posted monthly increases in the latest round of sales tax rebate checks State Comptroller Glenn Hegar disbursed September sales tax checks last week.

Rural burn ban lifted for Milam Milam County Judge Dave Barkemeyer has lifted the county’s rural outdoor burning ban. The judge cited recent widespread rainfall as the reason for removing the ban. About 4 inches has fallen during the past week at the U.S. Weather Service gauge at KRXTFM.

At work in the sky

After a delay in getting materials delivered to the site, work has resumed on the new Rockdale Police Station in the 300 block of East Cameron Ave. (US 79) and it’s about to go into high gear, according to City Manager Chris Whittaker.
