Lagrone reunion set for Saturday, Sunday

MILANO NEWS The 79th annual Lagrone Family Reunion will be held this Saturday and Sunday at the Noriene Lagrone farm off CR 345. Our family always enjoys this great time to fellowship each Father’s Day weekend.

RCS food pantry Rockdale Christian Services operates a food pantry at 224 West Cameron Avenue, open 10 a.m. until noon weekdays. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome, especially one-pound bags of rice, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, canned soups and peanut butter.

Pierce Ward celebrated his sixth birthday at the home of his great-grandparents, Wanda and Al Coats, Sunday with a lunch and party that afternoon. Those in attendance were his mother and grandmother from Houston and family members from the Bryan area. Fun was had by all.

Summer reading includes movies

The city library’s 2018 Texas Reading Club summer reading program, which began Tuesday, will include three free movies at the Kay Theatre. Librarian Melanie Todd said “Rio” will be shown this Thursday, “The Muppet Movie” June 14 and “Sing” on June 21. Time is 10 a.m. for all three.

84th Homecoming Sunday at civic center

Sunday will mark the 84th Rockdale Homecoming. The annual event will take place at the Patterson Civic Center, according to Barbara Gross, president of the Rockdale Homecoming Association. Events will begin at 10 a.m. with coffee and donuts for the early visitors.
