County eyes appointed treasurer

CAMERON—Milam County Commissioners on Tuesday decided on a split vote to seek a Texas constitutional amendment to change the office of treasurer from elected to appointed. Pct. 2 Commissioner Donald Shuffield raised the issue citing “what’s been going on in the past, here and other counties.

Six sentenced in district court

CAMERON—Six perspons were sentenced during recent 20th District Court action, according to Milam Prosecutor Bill Torrey.

Arrest after scam reported to police

POLICE REPORT Rockdale police made an arrest Saturday after receiving what they termed a “scam report.” Police Chief Thomas Harris said police received a report of elderly persons being charged work that was not performed. Arrested was 48-year-old Lonnie Burt Donaldson of Caldwell.
