MILANO—Louise Carpenter, 82, of Milano died Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at her home in Milano.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Gause Baptist Church with burial following at Gause Cemetery in Gause. Officiating was Greg Spears with Milam County Cowboy Church and Jason Lasher with Gause Baptist Church.

Mrs. Carpenter was born April 27, 1938, to John Nathan and Leila Leola (DeFore) Johns Sr. in Texas City.

She graduated from Liberty Hill High School and was able to attend one year of college.

On July 13, 1957, she married Arthur Carpenter Sr. at Liberty Hill First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Carpenter was a criminal records division clerk with the Department of Public Safety for over 24 years.

She was a member of Gause Baptist Church in Gause and was active in the Kitchen Ministry or wherever she was needed. She served faithfully for many years and enjoyed helping with fundraisers and church pot lucks.

She served as secretary and treasurer of Red Poll Cattle Association.

Mrs. Carpenter loved going to her grandchildren’s events and showing cattle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Leila Johns Sr.; a brother, John Johns Jr.; and a sister, Hazel Leola Johns.

Survivors are her husband of 63 years, Arthur Carpenter Sr. of Milano; three daughters, Barbara Hicks and husband J.P., Pamula Roberts and husband Ron, Deniece Brown and husband Les, all of Milano; a son, Arthur Carpenter Jr. and wife Sheryl of Liberty Hill; her grandchildren, Tanya Hicks, Jason and Alyshe Hicks, Jonathan and Gayla Hicks, Ron and Michelle Roberts Jr., Richard and Christina Roberts, Ben and Elizabeth Carpenter, Tyler Carpenter, Dylan Carpenter and Mary Brown; and her great-grandchildren, Hannah Hicks, Lauren Hicks, M’Kayla Hicks, Brianna Hicks, Rozlyn Walker, Nikki Walker, Holly Roberts, Dixie Roberts, Wyatt Roberts, Autumn Roberts, Cora Carpenter, Michael Zurovetz, Samantha Hicks and Katelyn Ruiz.

Pallbearers were Jason Hicks, Ronald Roberts Jr., Jonathan Hicks, Richard Roberts, Ben Carpenter and Tyler Carpenter.

Honorary pallbearers were Michael Zurovetz, Dylan Carpenter and Mary Brown.
