Silverthorne

BRYAN—C.B. Silverthorne, 82, went to be with his Lord on July 30, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Interment followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation was from 5:30- 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

He was born on Jan. 6, 1939, to William Silverthorne and Bertha Paul Silverthorne in New Bern, North Carolina. A place where he loved the freedom of exploring outside. He was one of 12 siblings and was raised in a loving Christian family.

His father was a tobacco farmer and in his later years became a Baptist preacher. His mother was a homemaker and loved to cook.

He is survived by his wife, Suzie Bush Silverthorne; two sons, Scott Silverthorne and wife Cheryl, Chris Silverthorne and wife Hope; a daughter, Dusti Riewe and husband Kermit; a brother Frank Silverthorne; his treasured grandchildren, Peyton Silverthorne, Colton Riewe, Keegan Riewe and Chesney Riewe; and a nephew, Luke Bush.

Spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and family was his greatest joy.

He served in the Air Force in 1959 and was the youngest “first shirt” sergeant at Bergstrom.

He was a graduate at the University of Texas on a baseball scholarship. He continued his education in banking and later became a successful banker serving as the president and chairman of the board at five different banks.

He was also known as an entrepreneur to many and always working on a deal. He worked off of a yellow notepad and a check list and loved to crunch numbers.

He would greet you with a hand shake or hug that made you feel like you were family. If you needed help, you knew you could count on him to be there.

C.B. was always described as being generous, caring, thoughtful, kind and loving.

As C.B. would say “I have more than I can ever say grace over” and that is how his family feels having done life with him in it. We will never forget someone who gave us so much to remember.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in memory of C.B.
