Mr. Andrew Morgan Jenkins
Andrew Morgan Jenkins was born in College Station on Nov. 27, 1994, to Bobby and Mandy Jenkins, who named him in honor of their grandfathers. He grew up on the Jenkins family place near Rockdale, where his father and grandfather before him trained racehorses.
As a child, nearly every moment outside of school was spent in the family stables or by his dad’s side at racetracks. His mother often joked that Andrew was literally raised in a barn.
Andrew became an accomplished horseman at an early age, beginning with “Buckholt” and “Oakie,” and soon riding just about anything with hide on it.
During his school years, he was an honor student and participated in football, track, band, academic UIL, powerlifting and FFA before being bitten by the rodeo bug. Andrew represented Region X in the Texas High School Rodeo Association and qualified for the State Finals in bareback bronc riding all three years. He was named the 2013 Texas FFA State Rodeo Champion Bareback Rider after arriving at the fairgrounds just minutes before his ride, causing Mr. Free more than a slight amount of panic.
Andrew graduated from Rockdale High School in 2013.
In 2020, he married Allye Johnson at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he was a lifelong member. Their union was blessed with one beautiful daughter, Elizabeth Sue, who Andrew loved and adored.
Andrew had been a member of the United Professional Rodeo Association (UPRA), the Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA), and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). He was in the CPRA Finals multiple years. Most recently, he began participating in the Ranch Bronc event, even riding at the Houston Livestock Show Ranch Rodeo.
Always pursuing his passion for horses, he worked at training facilities and racetracks throughout Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico. Among his proudest accomplishments was serving as a licensed outrider at Lone Star Park, Louisiana Downs and Zia Park.
Andrew was a multi-faceted person who will be remembered for his sharp wit and wry sense of humor. He had an eclectic taste in music, from bluegrass to heavy metal, with a particular appreciation of classic country.
He found great enjoyment in watching classic cartoons with his daughter, old movies with his mom, and westerns with his dad.
A devoted student of history, Andrew was an avid reader, who especially enjoyed western novels.
He loved discussing the Bible and found comfort and inspiration in listening to old Billy Graham sermons.
He will be remembered for his fearless nature, big heart, and the many treasured memories he leaves with his family and friends.
Andrew is survived by his beloved daughter, Elizabeth Jenkins; his parents, Bobby and Mandy Jenkins; his brother, Brandon Jenkins; and his sister, Claire Jenkins.
He is also survived by his PaPa R.D. Jenkins; his aunt and uncle, Luther and Dyan Shelander; his aunt, Molly Graham, all of Rockdale; his great-aunt, Kate Hall of Marlin; his cousin, James Hall of Georgia; and his great-aunt and uncle, John and Dora Rae Hall of Marlin.
Andrew was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Elizabeth “Babe” Hall Porterfield and Diana Whiteley Jenkins Sousares.
Visitation was held Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 27, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial following at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Laine Bownds, Justin Lewis, Tony Tharp, Lee Cherry, J.W. Tucker, Macy Graham, James Hall and Brandon Jenkins.
