Post-season hopes for the Tiger baseball team diminished significantly Tuesday evening after some early scoring and five runs in the fourth inning by Academy gave RHS an insurmountable uphill battle. This led to an 11-5 loss for the Tigers.

Senior Enrique Rivera led RHS at the plate going two-for-three with singles in the third and fifth.

Mario Casarez started for the Tigers and had one strikeout in 3.2 innings. Mason Willard threw for 3.1 and struck out seven.

Chase Mayfield, Cruz San Migel and Drayton Castaneda each had hits and Tra’on Crawford did as well with a double in the fourth.

THIS WEEK—The Tigers had the rest of the week off with no district game scheduled Friday and no game Saturday after their game with the Texans Homeschool team was canceled due to RHS having prom later that day.

They faced Rogers Tuesday after press time and host Caldwell Friday.

The Blue-and-Gold struggled in their first matchup with the Hornets after they got hot early with 13 runs in the first three innings. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

LADY TIGERS—The Rockdale High School softball team also had their work cut out for them against Academy, falling 12-1.

Like the baseball game between the two schools, Academy got ahead early and solidified their lead with five runs in the fourth inning.

Emma Whitsel and McKena Lopez each had one hit for the Lady Tigers.

THIS WEEK—RHS had Friday off but traveled to Rogers on Tuesday evening and will play in their season finale Friday at home against Caldwell. This will be the final game for seniors Mariana Casarez, Hannah Rodriguez, Kaitlyn Rash and Jena Locklin.

First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
