With eight touchdowns in a blazing first half, THS shutout Rosebud-Lott 63-0 on the road this past Friday.

In the first, the Bulldogs were boosted by two Kyle Northcott TD runs and a Michael Herzog touchdown to give THS a 22-0 lead.

Thorndale scored five more in the second with Cain Brymer, Colt Cauble, Mason Lindig, and Cayden Nicholson. Nicholson also threw a 13-yard TD pass to Stryker Leschber late in the second.

THS only scored once in the second half on a Jagger Rubio run for 64-yards but the Bulldog reserves were able to keep Rosebud out of the endzone only allowing 85 total yards on offense before winning by the final of 63-0.

Rubio led the team in rushing with 136 yards on five carries. Northcott was one yard short of 100 with 99 yards on seven carries.

Nicholson was four-of-five with 92 yards.

This was the third time the 4-1 Bulldogs have beaten an opponent by more than 50 points. While THS head coach Scott Hawkins enjoys winning, he’s more concerned with the long term effect.

“Honestly, it’s more worrisome than it is exhilarating,” Hawkins said. “I don’t want us to have a false sense of security.

“I want our guys to feel like they can constantly get better everyday and work at the basics: blocking, tackling and special teams.”

THIS WEEK–Thorn-dale takes on Holland this week. Texas Football’s seventh-ranked team as of press time, the Hornets are slated to be their toughest opponent of the regular season with 17 returning starters from an area finalist team.

“Holland is a big game,” Hawkins said. “They are very well coached and not make that many mistakes.

“In order to be successful, we must do the same.”

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m., in Holland.
