Rockdale Independent School District will host its Winter Wonderland at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, at Rockdale High School. Activities include meeting Santa Claus, games, crafts, hot cocoa with cookies, and educational make-and-take activities.

WINNERS

The rain held off long enough for the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce’s annual lighted Christmas parade on Saturday night as hundreds of people lined the street for this special event.

BAD WEATHER BUT A GREAT

The Bad to the Bone Riders had a rainy, cold and windy day for on Saturday for the The 19th annual Buddy Oney Toy Run, but that didn’t stop the group from raising over $8,400 in toys and donations to help make a happy Christmas for Milam County’s less fortunate children.

Pruitt is Fireman of the Year

At Saturday night ’s Rockdale Volunteer Department Christmas Party, Cody Pruitt was awarded Fireman of the Year which is voted on by the volunteers. The annual event was held at the fire station after they finished road closures and traffic control for Saturday night’s Christmas parade.

VOLUNTEER AWARD

Cynthia Ferrell received The Recognize Good Legendary Volunteer award recognizing ordinary individuals who go to extraordinary lengths for others. This award is presented to employees of TyRex Group through the Recognize Good organization where Ferrell works.

If a four-foot gingerbread house ends up at your house, know that it is a CASA of Milam County fundraiser. A donation of $50 will remove the house from your yard and guarantees it won’t come back. The donation also gets you the choice of where to send the house to and a CASA t-shirt.

Christmas sides for roast beef

What are you going to eat for Christmas dinner? Is it too early to talk about? Not as far as I’m concerned. We usually do a beef rib roast, but they have gotten so expensive lately. We like to go all out on Christmas though.
