The US Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) recently released the 2022 Gross Domestic Product (GDP) figures for Milam County. This data lets us see how Milam County’s economy performed in 2022. There are two ways to look at GDP — in current dollars or adjusted for inflation.

Republican primary candidates announced

Final filings for the 2024 county Republican Primary elections were released this week by Milam County Clerk Jodi Morgan. The primary voting date is March 5, 2024. Contested races include Tax Assessor Collector which has three candidates Melissa Fritz, Frank Summers and Stephanie Charanza.

Miss Tiny Tot, Summer Martin, center, and her brother Jonah Martin Jr. and baby sister Stormi Martin enjoyed visiting with Santa on Saturday morning at the Patterson Civic Center. Stormi doesn’t quite know what to think about the bearded man (some say it was Elbert Page) but she didn’t cry.

Rockdale High School football players and coaches were honored at Monday night’s city council meeting for winning the 2023 Battle of the Bell at the suggestion of council members Esmeralda Ruelas-Olivares and Scott Starnes.

The MARC float was the biggest in Saturday night’s parade and the winner of Best Decorated Overall Award. The float carried 50 people including MARC consumers and board members and even had a heater for the participants.
