COVID-19 claims life; death toll now at eight

A man in the southwestern section of the county died from COVID-19 on Friday, County Judge Steve Young said. The man was in the hospital and was on a ventilator when he died. One more person was admitted to a hospital over the past week.

Thorndale district votes pay raise for substitutes

On Oct. 19 Thorndale ISD school board voted to increase the pay for substitute teachers at its regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the administration board room.

County ‘finds’ money for project

Milam County Judge Steve Young happened upon some money last week, and the commissioners voted to use it for renovations to the Milam County Professional Building at the Monday morning meeting of the Milam County Commissioners Court in the courthouse in Cameron.

FIRE AND POLICE CALLS

• The Rockdale Police Department responded to 224 calls with 93 of those calls being 911 calls. The department made four arrests over the past week. • Tuesday, 5:03 p.m.
