RVFD fund raiser tickets now on sale

Tickets for the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department’s annual fund raising night at the KC Hall will go on sale Monday, according to spokesman Mike Korenek. The fund raiser is set for April 18. Tickets will be sold to persons on a year-to-year list.

Fund raiser slated for Milano cancer patient

A benefit is planned March 22 for Milano resident Richard Melton and family as he battles gastric cancer. Melton is receiving treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and the event is being held to help with expenses during his battle to win this fight.

Prayer walk slated March 10th at FBC

The Rockdale Ministerial Alliance will host a community prayer walk on March 10, according to Rev. John Seaton, Alliance president and pastor of St. John’s United Methodist Church. “It starts at 6 p.m.,” he said. “The group will meet at First Baptist for a short walk and time of prayer.”

One treated after Sunday accident

A 46-year-old Rockdale man was flown to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Bryan, after a 6:25 p.m. Saturday one-vehicle accident on FM 908 south of County Road 429. Trooper Broderick Sims said Michael Montoya’s vehicle ran off the road and hit a tree. Vehicle damages were termed “extensive.
