Biden wins Milam while taking state

Former Vice-President Joe Biden carried Milam County Tuesday in the Democratic Presidential Primary on his way to winning the state of Texas. There were no contested county races and only one Democratic candidate in Milam. That is Sam Pickett, That is Sam Pickett, unopposed as Pct. 4 Constable.

Early voting shows increase

A total of 2,895 Milam County residents voted early in the 2020 primaries. That total combines the Republican and Democratic votes. That’s a substantial increase over the past two primary elections, one each held in presidential and non-presidential election years.

Melton cancer benefit set for March 22

A benefit is planned March 22 for Milano resident Richard Melton and family as he battles gastric cancer. He is receiving treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and the event is being held to help with expenses during his battle to win this fight.

SMITHVILLE—Rockdale High School Big Blue Band students competed in UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest at Smithville High School. The Big Blue Band Brass Quartet earned a Division 1 (Superior) rating and advanced to the UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest in May.
