CAMERON—Thirty-one persons were indicted Thursday in the February session of the Milam County Grand Jury. One no-bill (refused to indict) was returned. Prosecutor Bill Torrey listed true bills as follows: • Betzbe Vahedian, 32, Frisco, forgery. • Jacob Ronald Hart Jr.

Hannah advances in ‘Idol’

Rockdale’s “Treble Soul” duo performed on the iconic television show “American Idol” Sunday evening and half of it advanced to the next round in Hollywood. Treble Soul is composed of Rockdale’s Hannah Prestridge and her husband Curt Jones.

Small fire Tuesday at high school

It was business as usual Wednesday morning at Rockdale High School after the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department answered a Tuesday evening call to a small fire . Fire Chief Ward Roddam said at 7:51 p.m. RVFD was dispatched to a fire alarm at the school.

Trustees approve head coach’s resignation

In a meeting mostly concerned with personnel action, Rockdale ISD trustees accepted the resignation of Head Coach/AD Jeff Miller last Wednesday. Miller has accepted a position at Cypress-Fairbanks. (See story page 1A).

Words cannot express how proud we are of our 4-H members competing at San Antonio for Consumer Judging on recently We had 34 Milam 4-H members out 338 members compete at this contest Here are our placings: Junior teams, 24. Junior individuals, 90.

World Day of Prayer Celebrates Zimbabwe World Day of Prayer is a Christian women-led ecumenical movement that aims to bring together people of various races, cultures, and traditions in a yearly communion of Prayer Day. The women of Zimbabwe have written this year’s service.

EXCELLENCE AWARD

The Milam County Historical Commission was presented the 2019 Excellence Award on Saturday night at the Cameron Chamber of Commerce banquet.

Local Alcoa Retirees to meet March 12th The first meeting of the Rockdale Alcoa retirees will be on Thursday, March 12 at 5 p.m. at The Thorndale Memorial Veterans Hall (former VFW Hall). There will be a short meeting to elect officers at 5:45 p.m. followed by dinner.
