Hacker defendants plea

The Emily Hacker murder case is coming to a sudden end. On Thursday morning, Candice Nicole Jones, 32, of Rockdale, pleaded guilty and 32-year-old Edward Brannon Barry of Caldwell entered an “open” plea before District Judge John Youngblood.

Earth Day activities set Monday

Earth Day is here and while some projects are already under way, and while there’s a Saturday event, the majority of the operation will see volunteers spread out through town Monday, cleaning and beautifying.

City, RISD early vote to start Monday

Early voting for the May 4 city and school elections in Rockdale begins Monday at City Hall. Both elections are in the same place. City voters will elect a mayor, two city council members and decide the fate of two proposed amendments to the city charter.

Reporter wins four firsts at STPA convention

LA GRANGE–The Rock-dale Reporter won six awards at the 93rd South Texas Press Association Convention over the weekend, including four first-place plaques.

‘Stash Your trash’ re-scheduled for May 4th

Rockdale’s spring “Stash Your Trash” day, part of the Earth Day observation, was supposed to have been Saturday. But the rains came. “We got four of the seven bins full,” City Manager Chris Whittaker said. “We are going to order some more bins and try again to have the full event on Saturday, May 4.

HELPING PAW-UH-HAND

The Rockdale 4-H Club has donated about 150 pounds of dog food to Rockdale Pet Adoption Welfare Services (PAWS).
