Fire calls for the past seven days by South Milam County Volunteer Department, dispatched through the Rock-dale Police Department, were listed as follows: • 10:22 a.m., April 16, fallen cable blocking roadway, 200 block of North Main in Thorn-dale, Thorndale VFD. • 1:50 a.m.

QUITE AN ENTRANCE

The Easter Bunny had quite a chauffeur on Good Friday at Rockdale’s Fair Park, making an entrance in a Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department pumper.

Trans-Milam chase ends in Rockdale

SHERIFF’S REPORT A chase by DPS state troopers involving a motorcycle, which began near Ben Arnold and wound its way to Rockdale, ended in a residential neighborhood Thursday.

YARD OF THE MONTH—

The home of April and Bill McRae, 2100 Yokley, has been named yard of the month for April by the Linwood Acres Garden Club. The McRaes are flanked by garden club members Margo Gilless and Debra Jackson. Yards may be nominated for the honor by calling the Rock-dale Chamber of Commerce at 446-2030.

Matinee Music Club hears trumpet program Trumpet selections by Rockdale musician Lee “Sparky” Thomason and Austin eighth grader Dante Koffler were highlights for the April meeting of the Matinee Musical Club. Hostess was Leah Thoma-son while the meeting co-hostess was Victoria Everett St. John.

We received a good report on Wayne’s sister, Sandra Dworaczyk. She is in a rehab center in Houston and it is near Jim and Mary Lee. She may get to come home next month, depending on her progress. Thanks for all your prayers and keep praying for her recovery.

MHS One-Act Play to perform Tuesday

MILANO NEWS Milano High School’s One-Act Play cast and crew will perform scenes from “Flowers for Algernon” for the public on Tuesday at the MHS cafeteria. The play will start at 7 p.m. and admission is $5 for adults, with senior citizens and students at $3 each. There will also be a silent auction.

ROCKDALE CHRISTIAN SERVICES

Heavenly Treasures Rockdale Christian Services “Heavenly Treasures” thrift store, 233 North Main, serves the needy with gently used clothing and household items at prices from 25 cents to $5. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. A “$3 Bag Day” is held first Friday of each month.
