Spring garage sale to be held this week

MILANO NEWS The Milano VFD Ladies Auxiliary spring garage sale is set for Thursday through Saturday at the MVFD fire station. The building will be open all week for donation drop offs. The sale will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Legion plans turkey shoot for Sunday

QUICK LOOK Rockdale American Legion Carlyle Post 358 will host a turkey shoot Sunday at the post home, 2535 North FM 487, 1.1 mile north of the FM 487 intersection. Food and drinks will be available at 11 a.m. with shooting starting at noon. Cost is $5 per round with 12 shooters per round.

Texas 7’s Murphy dodges execution

A member of the infamous Texas 7, who attended Rockdale High School 41 years ago, has avoided lethal injection execution for his role in the 2000 shooting of a Dallas area police officer in the state’s death chamber in Huntsville. At least for now.

PD ‘first day’ now April 17th

The cornerstone of Rock-dale’s new police station was “leveled” in a Masonic ceremony Saturday m0rning and it’s now estimated the first day of operation will be Wednesday, April 17. The project is running about a month behind.

Solar power isn’t just in the future anymore. It’s here for one Rockdale resident. Dusty Albreight, who lives on FM 908 south has “gone solar.” His power now comes from what he has been told is the first ground-based solar panel array of its kind in Milam County.
