A longstanding legal process by the City of Rockdale, addressing what has now been twice ruled a “junkyard” along US 79, appears to be entering a new phase.
—Almost 200 persons came to the KC Hall Monday afternoon for the Rockdale Federal Credit Union annual meeting. RFCU President Ron Montgomery (L) reported the financial institution remains in excellent shape and continues to rate five stars in the coveted Bauer Financial ratings.
CAMERON—A Milam County Grand Jury indicted 32 persons on 36 counts Thursday, according to Prosecutor Bill Torey who listed case dispositions as follows:
• Michael Anthony Scott, 26, Cameron, burglary of habitation–intend other felony.
Benefit ride scheduled at Nat’s on Saturday
A benefit ride/fund raiser for Dendy Brown is scheduled for March 30 leaving from Nat’s near Milano.
Brown was critically injured in an accident last September. He has had 11 surgeries and has at least two more to go.
June Clark was incorrectly identified in a group photo in last week’s Reporter. The photo was of 90-year-old twins Edna Timmerman and Ethel Guthrie and family members during a birthday reception.
POLICE REPORT
Rockdale police said a police officer was assaulted during booking of a man who had previously been tased and restrained last Wednesday.
Lt. Stephen Goodrich said police had been called to a fight at the Budget Inn in which a suspect was involved in a scuffle with four other persons.
—April was proclaimed Child Abuse Prevention Month Monday by county commissioners and Milam mayors, gathering in the Milam County Courthouse with Child Protective Services board members.
