—Thorndale Town and Country Club met recently at the home of Jean Hejl for a “Springtime Hat” session. Program was on Texas bluebonnets and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Historical Society seeks quilts for May 4 exhibit The Rockdale Historical Society will host a quilt exhibit May 4 at the I&GN Historical Depot and is seeking quilts to display. Anyone interested should contact Gene Stork at 512-446-2551 or Pat Jackson at 512-446-2856.

Kristian and Roman Morales and children of Rockdale came by for a visit Sunday evening. Enjoyed the time together. The children are growing so fast and they are so cute. On Friday of this week there will be a junior high dance at the school.

Knight fundraiser to be held Saturday

MILANO NEWS The eighth annual Knight Scholarship volleyball tournament fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday at Milano High School. Things will get under way at 10 a.m. with registration and team photos at 10:30 a.m. Games will begin at 11 a.m.

Northern Milam cycle crash nets third ‘19 fatality

A motorcycle accident in far northern Milam County on Friday has resulted in the county’s third fatality of 2019, all within a month. According to the Department of Public Safety the accident occurred at 3:15 p.m.

Thorndale Chamber to host candidates

THORNDALE—The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Meet the Candidates night for Thorndale city hopefuls at 7 p.m. Tuesday (March 26) at the Chamber building downtown. Election day is May 4, the final day to register to vote in April 3 and early voting begins on April 22.

TIME MACHINE

—That’s what the Kay Theatre turned into Saturday evening at a Rock and Roll Revival with the 50s band Steve “Anton” Raby and the Star Chiefs. About 70 persons turned out for the event which featured music of just about all the top performers from the era.
