30 years without parole

A 55-year-old Rockdale man will serve 30 years in prison, with no eligibility for parole, after he was found guilty of “aggravated sexual assault of a child younger than six” last week by a Milam County jury.

Bitmain ‘moving forward’

Bitmain’s ongoing project at the former Alcoa Rockdale Operations smelter continued to be a topic of conversation this week. The Chinese-based company was discussed at Monday’s county commissioners and Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) meetings.

State takes initial step to okay plan

One of the City of Rock-dale’s biggest fears in proposing its $63-million-plus water and sewer overhaul was that the city would start incurring fines from state and federal agencies before a plan was in in place. It now appears the first successful step in dodging those fines has been taken.

Hutto YMCA to operate city’s pool

The Hutto Family YMCA will operate the City of Rock-dale swimming pool this summer in what city officials hope is the start of a partnership. As part of the new relationship the Hutto “Y” will host aquatics training for prospective lifeguards in several locations, including the Rockdale City Pool.
