Decoration winners announced

MILANO NEWS Winners were announced in the City of Milano Christmas decorations contest. Taking first place was Nellie Ryan, second place was Billy and Billie Baggerly and third place was Bryce and Regina Taylor.

Gause Baptist Church Christmas program Sunday was very nice. There was a large crowd that attended. Wayne and I had a nice visit in Milano Sunday afternoon with his aunt, Martha Newman, and family members. A reminder that Sunday at 6 p.m., Gause Methodist Church will have a remembrance service.

Delivery day is Tuesday for Roundup Rockdale Christmas Roundup, which provided holiday cheer for 970 persons in 2017, will deliver on Tuesday. The KC Hall will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday to accept donations of food and toys. On Monday, the hall will open at 9 a.m.

Child capital murder to grand jury

A Milam County Grand Jury is scheduled Thursday to get the capital murder case of a 20-month-old girl whose Dec. 3 death was attributed to her being “punched, slapped, shaken and finally squeezed until she was motionless.” Patricia Ann “Annie” Rader was pronounced dead at 6:11 p.m.

A BAD ONE

BATTLING THE BLAZE—Logs to Lumber, a woodworking businesses commonly called The Cedar Shop, was destroyed by fire just after 3:30 p.m. Friday. The Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department contained the blaze in about an hour and responded to a rekindle at 10:25 p.m.

Water rate numbers look grim as city talks hikes
