Lady Eagles prepped, ready for District 25-2A season

The Milano Lady Eagles went 0-4 at the Fayetteville Tournament this past weekend. “We lost all four games,” said Jordan Merkord, MHS girl’s head basketball coach. “But we grew a lot as a team.” The Lady Eagles lost to Shiner-St. Paul 48-35 on the first day of the tournament.

Cow-Calf Clinic Jan. 3 in Cameron

CAMERON—The 38th Annual Central Texas Cow/ Calf Clinic will be held Thursday, Jan. 3, at the Milam County Youth Exposition Building, 301 South Houston in Cameron.

That’s what over 100 students from a dozen schools did recently at Fair Park as Perry & Perry Builders sponsored the first annual Tiger Tough welding competition. It was a “track meet” format with schools getting points based on individual events.

Get the point? The Good Guys certainly came out on top in Rockdale’s night-time Christmas Parade on Saturday. Santa (Tom Loth) triumphantly arrived as the final entry while the Grinch (Dustin Thomas) got thrown in jail on the Milam County CrimeStoppers float.

‘Capital murder’ in child’s death

Rockdale police have filed a charge of capital murder against a 30-year-old local resident in connection with the death of a 20-month-old girl Monday. Lt. Stephen Goodrich said Patricia Ann Rader was pronounced dead at a San Gabriel Street residence by Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Andy Isaacs.
