Oney Toy Run is Saturday at The Ranch

QUICK LOOK Bad to the Bone Riders Buddy Oney Toy Run is set for Saturday at The Ranch. Proceeds go to Milam County Child Protective Services, Brown Santa, Thorndale Cares and Rockdale Christmas Roundup. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with first bike out at 11.

Parade, Santa set Saturday

Rockdale’s annual Christmas parade and party is set for Saturday with a day of holiday fun leading up to the night-time lighted parade at 6 p.m. Santa will be in Rockdale three times on Saturday and there will be ample opportunity for area children to visit and share their Christmas wishes.

MDD eyes plan to aid businesses

The Rockdale Municipal Development District (MDD) is considering establishing a program, or programs, to assist local businesses. Meeting in regular session Monday in the MDD offices, directors scheduled a Dec. 18 workshop to discuss what kind of form any new programs might take.

HIGH RISE

Masonry work on Rockdale’s new police station has progressed around to the east side of the building, located at the corner of Cameron Avenue (US 79) and Green Street.

7:30 to 10 a.m.—Breakfast With Santa, Patterson Center. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.—St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Christmas Bazaar, San Gabriel at Bell. 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.—Depot museum open, Milam at Main—Blacksmith shop, model trains, sausage wraps and more. 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

East side housing project clears hurdle

A proposed major housing development on the east side of Rockdale has received conditional approval for its initial loan and the project could get its official clearance to proceed as soon as March.

‘Multiple’ water rate hikes eyed over next five years

Ger ready, Rockdale water customers. As the city prepares to talk dollars and cents in its effort to replace its “failing” water system, a series of inevitable water rate increases looms for the next five years.

Quality Inn, 702 West US 79 in Rockdale, has new owners and the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce recently held a ribbon-cutting to commemorate the change of ownership.
