12 sentenced in district court

CAMERON—Twelve cases were disposed of recently in 20th District Court. Prosecutor Bill Torrey listed case dispositions as follows: • Christopher Wardell Brown, 43, Cameron, seven-year prison term after pleading “true” to a motion to revoke probation for indecency with a child–sexual contact.

We must be ‘salt’ and pay the cost

He told me to tell you that I’m preaching through the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). They are “red letters” and I love the red letters. What if Jesus meant what He said? If the red letters are true (and they are) we’re in trouble. This week Jesus told me I’m salt and I’m light (Matthew 5:13-16).

THANKS, VETERANS

The tributes continued Thursday as the Rockdale ISD expressed its appreciation to local veterans. Immediately after the morning celebration in the Rock-dale High School Gym, veterans and spouses were fed lunch in the Rockdale Junior-HIgh School Commons, an annual tradition at the campus.

GAUSE NEWS

Lots of good food and fellowship at the community Thanksgiving dinner this past Sunday at Gause Baptist Church Family Life Center. Gause 4-H’ers have been collecting food for their annual food drive. This will be distributed to those in need within the Gause community.

INTERNATIONAL QUILTER

Rockdale’s, Betty Margaret Ferguson was featured at the 2018 International Quilt Festival held in Houston The festival, in its 44th year, features more than 1,600 quilts and unique works of textile art from 35 countries. Ferguson’s was one of only 18 quilts in the Texas guild division.

Christmas Round-Up items needed by Dec. 6

MILANO NEWS Milano ISD is collecting certain items for the area’s Christmas Round-Up. Each campus is accepting donations of unwrapped toys, soup of any kind, instant potatoes and canned chicken. Deadline to turn in items to MISD campus is Dec. 6.
