This week, Milam County began one of the largest jury trials our county has seen in many years. Because of the size and complexity of the case, we issued more jury summonses than we have in a long time.

100 YEARS AGO The new Dixie Theater, a $25,000 theater owned and operated by C.W. Matson, of this city, is the latest addition to Rockdale’s business district. The new Dixie is one of the most modern and comfortable theaters in central Texas, with seating capacity of 500.

Could you have lived in early Rockdale?

Iwas excited to see the photos of Rockdale in 1910 and 1912 released by the Milam County Historical Society. There is one on the front page and one on this page. I was mostly excited because it shows Rockdale when my great grandfather, his w ife a nd t hree c hildren moved here in 1911.
