A prediction for laughs or applause
I’m going out on a limb with my presidential election prediction. I think the polls are wrong again and it’s not going to be close. There, I’ve said it. So you can either laugh at me on election day or say, “He must be a psychic or something!” Or something.
The thief of joy
It’s easy to compare our lives to the lives of others and social media even encourages it. Someone said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” The danger of comparison is that it can lead us to feelings of anxiety, inadequacy and dissatisfaction. One minute we can be happy and grateful but then we see a social media post that makes us doubt our previous assessment. We look at the snapshot and start to wonder why others look happier, seem smarter, more successful and seemingly just have an overall better life. Listen, can we talk? All of that smells like smoke and comes from the pit of Hell. When we compare the life God has given us with the life of our neighbor or coworker, we are comparing apples and oranges.
The language of unconditional love
The eleventh chapter of Genesis opens with the words, “Now the whole earth had one language.” Because of this, God says, “Nothing they propose to do will be impossible for them.” Then the story of the tower of Babel is told in which God confuses the languages of humankind and scatters them across the earth.
This week in Milam County
There is lots going on in Milam County right now so I thought I would spend this week’s article catching everyone up and some of the happenings. Of course, we know this weekend is the Rockdale Fair weekend and it’s exciting for everyone, but did you know there is an airshow in Cameron Saturday as well? Sometimes it seems everything happens at once around here. Last weekend was the Rockdale Fair Pageant as well as the Steak Stein and Wine Festival in Cameron.
